Be careful, because from the philosophical aspect, when you talk about materialism you are talking about the historical materialism proposed by Marx as a method from which societies must be examined throughout their product development thanks to the material conditions in which they developed.

I know what you meant, still.

Thank you!! I've had to read a lot of Marx but have never understood his ideology. I guess when I think of materialism I think more about Diogenes.

My bf actually has aspects of Dudeism in his practice, has a "I'm the Dude" set as his ringtone for texts, and named a local stray/feral cat we plan on trying to take in the Dude. He loves that movie to bits! Moonrise Kingdom was so good for a Coming of Age film. In terms of films, I tend to like the obscure or movies intentionally made to be bad. The Godzilla series, well, the older movies are a great example of this. My bf has recently been taking me through the Rob Zombie movies and getting me into Slasher films in general. But, Sci-fi, Occult, Documentaries/Docuseries, or Coming of Age films tend to hold a special place in my heart. Psychological Horror is pretty good too.

I love this!! I just got a kitten recently who I almost named the Dude! My fiance is like a gender-bent Dude, she wears a robe constantly, has shaggy hair, and drinks a lot of milk. I love bad movies too! That's why I love John Waters so much! But sadly that's also why friends and family won't listen to my film recommendations, haha. I beg them to watch The House That Jack Built but they won't, even though it is actually good and not "good" by my definition. Have you seen many black and white dramas? Like, Mildred Pierce and What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? You also mention documentaries! Grey Gardens is my favorite!!

  3. I love this topic!! I've been attempting to figure out my basic understanding of myself lately through diary writing and reflection. I think if we take the time to reflect on our personal morals and stabilize our belief systems then we will be more consistent and rounded humans.

A lot of my philosophies are also focused on what is known and not known. There are things that we know as a fact, there are things that we personally believe which are nuanced and subjective, and there are things we know nothing about. One of the big talking points being God and the afterlife -- people believe there is a God, but there is no way to know for a fact. I mostly perform in a state of grey and I don't think everything is as black and white as it seems, especially in America.

I also acknowledge that some of my philosophies can be considered cold, though, because I believe that if one cannot understand, or accept, the basic fundamentals of oneself (that they are woman/man, that they are human, that they are part of an animal kingdom) then I have a hard time relating or taking them serious. Because, in my eyes, if someone cannot accept that these basic truths then how can I be on the same plane as them. Does this make sense?

Materialism is something which I have beliefs about, but do not follow very well myself, haha. Over the past year or two I have taken notice of the trinkets that many are obsessed with. There is a lot of needless spending for object that serve no purpose or function. I have been guilty of this myself, I think most of us have. Throughout 2021 however, I think I've been doing a really good job of reflecting how necessary an item is before recklessly spending money. I've been much more objective about my purchases which I am very happy about, but still I am not perfect. If I were -- I would own nothing but the necessities.

I don't know if this helps answer your question much, but hopefully it did. 🥨

Welcome! Yes, there's a messaging system. Don't worry! A lot of people are shy. It's nice to meet you.

What kind of movies do you enjoy, Tiffany?

Hello! Oh god, that is a loaded question hehe. This entire year I have been watching all John Waters' films and have become a huge fan. I also love Rob Zombies movies, mostly House of 1,000 Corpses. Other than that, I love the typical horrors and slashers, there are some comedies I like a lot like Big Lebowski and Moonrise Kingdom. What about you? Are you into movies much?

  5. Hallo, I'm Tiffany, 24F. I was on Vampire Freaks for many years but was not very active on there. I'm kind of shy but I would love to meet some new people! I feel as though I have so much I wish to talk about, but none of my friends are very into the goth scene. I love to send letters, watch movies, crochet, and smoke on the weekends 💋. I don't really know what to say, haha. I'm open to getting to know more people. If you want to hang out just shoot me a message! (Is there private messaging here like VF? I have no idea!) 🥨

  6. I like to think i am some hybrid of casual goth but also old-school emo (only because of music), hehe. I have worn primarily black clothes since elementary school, it is my comfort color I think. I also love collecting oddities and teeth, I work out in cemeteries, listen to the music like Bauhaus, The Birthday Party, Siouxsie, etc. But I do not think I am hardcore goth only -- I like many things! I think to only have one lane of interests is boring. But, I have always been called goth so I guess I am mostly goth. 🥨
